News that the war is almost over is heard on the radio. The citizens are jubilant but can’t resist poking a little fun at the “Heavies”, both here and overseas.

Trouble won't last, trouble won't last, trouble won't last
Trouble won't last, trouble won't last, trouble won't last
Not if we remember to sing and dance. Not if we continue to smile and laugh
Trouble won't last, trouble won't last, trouble won't last

We had trouble way over the sea. Big time trouble with a capital "T"
MALE SOLO: There was an evil little German man
Who snapped his fingers and the whole world ran
FEMALE SOLOIST: I know who you're talking about. Help me out
Is it H -  i -  capital "T" - l - e - r
CRAZY WOMAN: (Screams) That's  him he's the one
Never has a bigger bugger come undone
MALE & FEMALE SOLOISTS: ‘Cause the war is almost over. The tide has turned
World War Two's about to be adjourned

ALL: Trouble won't last, trouble won't last, trouble won't last
Trouble won't last, trouble won't last, trouble won't last
Not if we remember to sing and dance. Not if we continue to smile and laugh
Trouble won't last, trouble won't last, trouble won't last

MALE & FEMALE SOLOISTS: Here comes trouble! Capital “T” trouble
AIR RAID WARDEN: The Germans are Coming! The Germans are coming!
ALL: NO THEY'RE NOT!
CRAZY WOMAN: (Slaps the ARW. He spins around and lands in a chair)
You! You're the one!
Always try'n to scare us. Try'n to make us run
What's that warning you said now and then?
ARW: Loose lips sink ships
CRAZY WOMAN: Yes! That's the one!
(Spoken) If I ever see your loose around Franklin County again
There’ll be more than ships sinking. Now, Where were we?
(Dance Break)

ALL: It’s true that trouble won’t last, trouble won’t last, trouble won’t last
Trouble won’t last, trouble won’t last
‘Cause the war is almost over
And we’ll all be in clover
Trouble won’t last
It won’t last
Trouble won’t last
