I haven’t done too many of these shows where moonshining wasn’t a part of it. It’s particularly part of the Asheville culture. In fact, there are at least 8 micro breweries doing a thriving business there now.

Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew
Gonna get me some, now how ‘bout you?
There’s some smoke up on the mountain
They’re not cookin’ stew
Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew

What’s all the brou-ha-ha?
Better tell your momma
Better tell your pa
They’re workin’ overtime
For me and you

Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew
Gonna get me some, now how ‘bout you?
If you all see the sheriff
They’ve got his order too
Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew

If you’ve been sick, or had the flu
Better get you some, it’s good for you
Old Doc himself was ailin’
He took a swig and then
His spirits rose right from his toes
To the top of his head

What’s all the brou-ha-ha?
They ain’t makin’ nothing’ like this in Arkansas
Corn, sugar, yeast and malt
Some water too

Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew
Gonna get me some, now how ‘bout you?
There’s some smoke up on the mountain
They’re not cookin’ stew
Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew

SPOKEN: Hey! Y’all talkin’ about spirits up on the mountain again? Well, I gotcha good one.
There’s some spirits on the mountain straight from baseball heaven
They been up there playin’ ball since eighteen ninety-seven
Asheville’s Moonshiners, bless their little hearts
They still think they’re playin’ at Riverside Park
SPOKEN: But they ain‘t, they’re just haints
There’s a new game in town
Over yonder at McCormick Field the “Tourists” they get down
And they’re a good team, they’re a fine team, no one can deny
But there’s one thing around here we’re not in short supply
And that’d be tourists, WHOO-HOO
SPOKEN: On the scoreboard “Visitors and Tourists”
I guess they got the name right, ain’t no use to fight
Sorry ‘Shiners may you rest in peace
SPOKEN: The “Tourists” done got a lease

So here’s to you our phantom friends
Raise a glass or two let the feudin’ end
It goes down as smooth as honey
It’s fresh as mountain dew
Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew, Beaucatcher Brew
It’s Asheville’s best
Forget the rest Beaucatcher Brew
